This massive monument is one of the most famous symbols of the early Soviet era.
The Worker and Kolkhoz Woman was designed by Vera Mukhina and placed on top of the Russian pavilion at the Paris World Fair in ‘37. The actual pavilion was designed by Boris Iofan (the guy who also created the notorious House on the Embankment). It was taken down some time after the collapse of the Union and has only been restored to its former glory recently, so I really enjoyed going all Rodchenko on it.
