Sometimes I start to suspect that the real point of art school is to have your tutors tell you all the things you will think don’t matter so that years later, when you realise you should have been doing those things all along, you could hear their voices going off in your head saying ‘I told you so!’
Like this panel. Back in my uni days, I would have made version 1 and moved on, but now I realise that even if it looks good, you have to keep trying until it looks right. Now, this is not perfectly finished yet, but it’s right. An hour or so later it’ll be ready. And I don’t regret spending three days on doing it over and over again, despite everyone saying that version 1 was good enough.
